The Inventor of the Hiccup-Stopping Lollipop

04/21/2022

Mallory Kievman, a 13-year-old who invented the hiccup-stopping lollipop, is on a mission to bring this product to market. The lollipop is a combination of sugar, apple cider vinegar and a patented formula. It is expected to hit the market this summer. The lollipop contains all the ingredients necessary to stop hiccups, so you can bet that it will work

In the summer of 2010, Kievman entered her idea in a science fair and won a patent award. She then tested her lollipop on her family members and friends to see if it would stop hiccups. She also sought help from MBA students at the University of Connecticut. She is now looking for a manufacturer and a distributor. If it becomes a success, Kievman hopes to become a doctor someday. Inventing a hiccup-stopping lollipop was a dream come true for Kievman, who was inspired by the idea of a pulley system in a crib to turn off a light from the top bunk. Her first product, Hiccupops, has already won a major children's invention contest. Now, Kievman and her team of MBA students are working to get the product into the hands of real hiccup sufferers. The Hiccuppop works by stimulating the nerves in the mouth and throat that control hiccup reflexes. These nerves are sensitive and can be overstimulated. Therefore, Hiccupops cancel the message from the hiccup reflex. Hiccupops won several awards at the Connecticut Invention Convention and are now being marketed. Moreover, a University of Connecticut outreach program is working to bring Hiccupops to the market this summer. To get more enlightened on the topic, check out this related post: https://www.encyclopedia.com/sports-and-everyday-life/food-and-drink/food-and-cooking/candy.
